Nickel-chromium-iron alloy (UNS N06601) W.Nr. 2.4851 / Alloy 601 / Inconel 601 is a general purpose engineering material for applications requiring resistance to heat and corrosion. An outstanding property of the material is its resistance to high temperature oxidation. W.Nr. 2.4851 / Alloy 601 / Inconel 601 alloy also has good resistance to aqueous corrosion, has high mechanical strength, and is easily machined and welded.
The composition is a surface-centered solid solution with a high degree of metallurgical stability. W.Nr. 2.4851 / Alloy 601 / Inconel 601 alloy's nickel base, with significant chromium content, provides resistance to many corrosive environments and high temperature environments. Oxidation resistance is further increased by the aluminum content.
The properties of the W.Nr. 2.4851 / Alloy 601 / Inconel 601 material make it widely used in areas such as thermal processing, chemical processing, pollution control, aerospace and power generation. Alloy is a standard building material for various heat treatment equipment.
W.Nr. 2.4851 / Alloy 601 / Inconel 601 industrial heating applications include baskets, trays, and fixtures for annealing, carburizing, carbonitriding, nitriding and other heat treatment processes. In industrial furnaces, alloy radiant tubes are used for muffles, retorts, flame shields, wire annealing tubes, woven wire conveyor belts, chain curtains, burner nozzles and electric resistance heating elements. Other thermal processing applications are thermocouple protection tubes, furnace-atmosphere generators and infrared radiant screens.
Chemical processing applications for W.Nr. 2.4851 / Alloy 601 / Inconel 601 include process heaters, condenser pipes in sour water strippers, and insulating boxes in ammonia reformers. The alloy is also used for combustion components and catalyst grid supports in equipment for nitric acid production.
In petrochemical processing, the alloy is used for catalyst regenerators and air preheaters in the production of high density polyethylene.
For thermal reactors in the exhaust systems of gasoline engines and combustion chambers in solid waste incinerators in pollution control applications W.Nr. 2.4851 / Alloy 601 / Inconel 601 is used.
In the field of energy generation, the material is used for super heater tube supports, grid barriers and ash handling systems. W.Nr. 2.4851 / Alloy 601 / Inconel 601 is also used for jet engine igniters and combustion can liners, diffuser assemblies, and casing rings in gas turbines for aircraft, industrial and vehicle applications.
