(UNS N08825) W.Nr. 2.4858 / Alloy 825 / Incoloy 825 is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy with the addition of molybdenum, copper and titanium. The chemical composition of the alloy is designed to provide exceptional resistance to many corrosive environments. Nickel content of W.Nr. 2.4858 / Alloy 825 / Incoloy 825 material is sufficient for resistance to chloride-ion stress-corrosion cracking. It provides exceptional resistance to reducing environments such as those containing nickel, sulfuric and phosphoric acids along with molybdenum and copper. Molybdenum in the W.Nr. 2.4858 / Alloy 825 / Incoloy 825 alloy also provides resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. The chromium content of the alloy gives resistance to various oxidizing agents such as nitric acid, nitrates and oxidizing salt. The addition of titanium is achieved by a suitable heat treatment, W.Nr. 2.4858 / Alloy 825 / Incoloy 825 serves to stabilize the alloy against sensitization to intergranular corrosion.

The material's resistance to general and local corrosion under various conditions gives the alloy a wide benefit. Applications of W.Nr. 2.4858 / Alloy 825 / Incoloy 825 material include chemical processing, pollution control, oil and natural gas recovery, acid production, pickling operations, nuclear fuel reprocessing, and radioactive waste processing.
