1.4104 / DIN X14CrMoS17 – AISI 430F – UNS S43020
The machinability of 1.4104 / DIN X14CrMoS17 / AISI 430F stainless is far superior to ferritic 17% chromium steel (1.4016) as a result of the controlled sulfur addition to this grade steel. However, the addition of sulfur reduces resistance to corrosion and therefore 1.4016 is significantly more resistant to corrosion than 1.4104 / DIN X14CrMoS17 / AISI 430F, despite similar chromium content. It should be noted that neither minimum impact characteristics nor high temperature properties are specified as a result of the addition of sulfur.
1.4104 / DIN X14CrMoS17 / AISI 430F stainless quality material is generally used in transportation vehicles, electronic equipment, food and food production facilities, decorations.
It is a type of steel that is preferred in not very difficult conditions. The easy processing of this steel is the most important feature of this steel.
The hot forming temperature is 1100-800 ºC. It should be cooled slowly.
