Nr. 2.4602 (UNS N06022; NiCr21Mo14W) Hastelloy C22 / Alloy C22 / Inconel 22 is a fully austenitic enhanced corrosion resistant alloy that provides resistance to both aqueous corrosion and attack at high temperatures. This alloy provides exceptional resistance to general corrosion, pitting, crevice corrosion, intergranular attack and stress corrosion cracking.

2.4602 / Hastelloy C 22 / Alloy C 22 / Inconel 22 has found numerous applications in chemical / petrochemical processing, pollution control (flue gas desulfurization), energy, marine, pulp and paper processing and waste disposal industries.

2.4602 / Hastelloy C22 / Alloy C22 / Inconel 22 is nickel base and typically contains 22% chromium, 14% molybdenum and 3% tungsten.

Iron is normally limited to less than 3%. The high chromium content of the alloy provides good resistance to wet corrosion with an oxidizing environment (eg nitric acid and ferric and cupric salts). The molybdenum and tungsten content give the alloy resistance to wet reducing environment (eg sulfuric and hydrochloric acids). 2.4602 offers excellent resistance to corrosive attacks by seawater under stagnant and flowing conditions.

At high temperatures, the high chromium level of 2.4602 helps it resist oxidation, carburization and sulfidation. As it is nickel-based, the 2.4602 is resistant to high temperature attack of halides (eg chlorides and fluorides). With these properties, the alloy is widely used to protect steel pipes and other components in coal fired and waste energy boilers.
