1.4862 and 1.4864 / Alloy 330 / Incoloy 330 are solid solution alloys containing carbonitrides with small amounts of precipitated titanium nitride and carbide in austenitic matrix. 1.4862 and 1.4864 / Alloy 330 / Incoloy 330 nickel-chromium-iron alloys containing approximately 2% silicon are general purpose heat resistant materials. They have good oxidation resistance up to about 1000 ° C (1850 ° F), especially under cyclic heating and cooling conditions. They also have excellent resistance to carburization and are widely used in industry under these conditions. Their resistance to nitrogen-containing atmospheres with low oxygen content makes them suitable for environments such as cracked ammonia. 1.4862 and 1.4864 / Alloy 330 / Incoloy 330 have good oxidation resistance and resist scale formation up to about 1000 ° C (1850 ° F). Any scale formed adheres tightly, especially under cyclic heating and cooling conditions. Alloys have excellent resistance to carburization and are therefore widely used in industry under carburizing conditions. 1.4862 and 1.4864 / Alloy 330 / Incoloy 330 have good resistance to nitrogen-containing environments with low oxygen content, ie cracked ammonia. Resistance to sulfidation is better under oxidation than in reducing condition. The sulfur scale tends to exfoliate and the oxide scale has no protective effect.
